Chase the Top End's Best Fishing

We run fishing charters out of Darwin aboard the Salty Brumby. Offshore for Spanish mackerel, tuna, and coral trout; the harbour for jewfish and golden snapper; up the estuary creeks for barramundi on the run-off. Tell us what you want to chase and we'll match the trip to the tides.

One Boat, One Crew, Every Trip

Every Cape Adieu fishing charter runs aboard the Salty Brumby — a purpose-built Top End fishing platform set up for serious days on the water. Plenty of deck room to work a fish, shade for the middle of the day, and the gear rigged and ready before you step aboard.

She's skippered by local crew with more than a thousand charters behind them. They've fished this coast in every season — the Wet, the run-off, the Dry, the build-up — and they pick the grounds on the morning to suit the tide, the wind and what's been biting through the week. You won't find a fixed itinerary here. The plan follows the fish.

Fishing Charter FAQs

Do I need a fishing licence?

No. The Northern Territory has no recreational fishing licence, and you fish under our charter operation while you're aboard. Just turn up ready to go.

I've never fished before — is that okay?

More than okay. The crew rig everything, teach you the techniques and stay hands-on all day. First-timers land cracking fish with us all the time. Keen anglers get pointed straight at the better grounds.

When's the best time of year to come?

There's always something biting in the Top End. The Dry (June–September) is the most comfortable on the water and prime for offshore reef and pelagics; the run-off and build-up either side fire up the barra; and the sheltered harbour fishes right through the year. Tell us when you're here and we'll match the trip to the season.

Which charter is right for my group?

Harbour trips suit families, first-timers and anyone short on time. Offshore is for those chasing reef fish and pelagics on a full day out. Barramundi charters are for the lure fishos chasing the Territory icon. Not sure? Send us a message and we'll steer you right.

Can you run a private charter for our group?

Yes. The Salty Brumby takes up to 6 guests offshore, and up to 8 in the harbour and estuaries. Book the whole boat for your own crew — mates, family, a work day out or a special occasion. Get in touch and we'll sort the date and the trip to suit.

What should I bring?

A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, soft-soled shoes, a light rain jacket in the Wet, and any drinks you'd like along. We supply all rods, reels, tackle, bait, ice and food for the day — you just bring yourself.

Where do we depart from?

Stokes Hill Wharf in Darwin — central, easy to reach and right on the waterfront. We'll confirm your meeting point and time when you book.
