The safaris are what happens when you combine the Cape Adieu with a purpose-built fishing tender and point them at some of the most remote coastline in Australia. Live aboard the Cape Adieu. Proper beds, fresh water showers, and the chef cooking your catch each evening.

Fish off the Salty Brumby each day. Island hopping, creek running, reef fishing, whatever the conditions serve up. These trips run 5 to 7 nights, for up to 6 guests, with larger private groups (7 to 9) by arrangement. Each one is different because the water, the weather, and the fish dictate the itinerary.

Join a set departure. The easiest way aboard is a scheduled five night West Arnhem safari, departing Sundays from 18 October. Get yourself to Darwin and we'll take care of the rest. We will have the boat waiting and will fly you out to it.

Or go tailor made. Five nights minimum, then it's your trip. The remote islands of Arnhem Land, or west to the Kimberley coast. How long you want to be out, where you want to go, and what you want to chase. We'll plan the route around the tides and the season and shape it to suit.

Who We Are

Munro and Grace Hardy

Born and raised in the bush, Munro headed north after school with no destination, just a direction. Two decades of remote cattle stations, pearl farms on the Kimberley coast, drill rigs in the west, and mustering cattle all over the Territory by chopper.

That time in the air matters. Munro has seen more of this coastline than almost anyone, and the relationships he built along the way, with station owners, communities and old mates, still open doors that stay shut to everyone else. Every itinerary here is built from the best of what he found.

Munro and Grace bought the Cape Adieu in 2024 and run her themselves out of Stokes Hill Wharf in Darwin. Every trip is skippered and hosted by the people whose name is on the hull.

One of Australia's Last Untouched Fisheries

The islands of West Arnhem Land, east of the Cobourg Peninsula, hold some of the most remote and untouched saltwater fishing in the country. Minimal fishing pressure, clean water and big tides make a fishery very few anglers will ever experience.

Fly in from Darwin, live aboard the Cape Adieu, and fish each day from the purpose built Salty Brumby. Small groups, big fish, not another boat in sight.

Where We Fish

From Darwin you fly into the Cobourg Peninsula and step aboard. The safari works the islands and coast to the east. There's no fixed route. Where we run each day is decided by the weather, the tides and where the fish are.

The Fishing

Reef and Bluewater

The reef country holds golden snapper, black jewfish, red emperor, coral trout, mangrove jack and saddletail snapper, with spangled and grass emperor, goldband snapper, Moses perch, Maori sea perch, tripletail and big cod in the mix.

On the troll and the cast there are giant trevally, queenfish, Spanish mackerel, longtail tuna, mahi mahi, cobia and the odd sailfish. Whether you're throwing lures at GTs or dropping baits over untouched reef, the crew put you on the fish. The program runs to the tides, not the clock.

Fly anglers are welcome. We don't supply fly gear, so bring your own outfit and we'll supply everything else.

Live Aboard One, Fish Off the Other

The Cape Adieu is your floating lodge. Air-conditioned cabins, fresh water showers, home cooked meals, cold drinks, and a deck to yourself each evening as the sun drops over the water.

By day you fish from the Salty Brumby, a 7.6 metre custom Top End sportfishing boat. Full walkaround, huge casting deck, shade canopy, premium rods and tackle, and the latest sounders and gear.

There's no fixed schedule out here. We plan each day around the conditions and what your crew wants to do.

A quick session before breakfast back on the Cape Adieu. A packed smoko and an extended morning, back in time for lunch. Or pack a lunch and make a full day of it. The tide sets the options, you pick.

Tailored Safari Itineraries

The scheduled West Arnhem departures are the easiest way aboard, but they're not the only way. We're licensed fishing tour operators in both the NT and WA, so a tailored safari can run anywhere on that coastline. Helicopters, airboats, whatever the trip calls for. Limited by imagination only.

1 · Tell Us the Plan

Your group size, how many nights, and what you want to chase. We shape a route around the tides and the season. Arnhem Land islands, the Monsoon Coast, or the Kimberley, Wyndham to Derby if that's the trip.

2 · Meet the Boat

We position the boat for your route and get you out to her wherever she's anchored, by plane, road, chopper or airboat. You just turn up.

3 · We Do the Rest

Crew, chef, fishing tender, gear and itinerary all sorted. You fish, eat well, and sleep aboard. The logistics are our problem, not yours.

Can I book as a single or a pair?

Yes! Book as a crew or grab a spot on a departure. Trips are confirmed with a minimum of 4 guests aboard, and singles share the bunk cabin or an available berth.

What's included?

Plane transfers Darwin to Cobourg and return, 5 nights accommodation aboard the Cape Adieu, all meals, professional guiding and crew, all rods, tackle and bait, and daily fishing from the Salty Brumby.

What about drinks?

All non-alcoholic drinks are aboard. Alcohol isn't included in the fare, but send us your drinks list before you fly in and we'll have it stocked and chilled when you step aboard, billed at cost.

Can I fly fish?

Absolutely, fly anglers are welcome. We don't supply fly gear, so bring your own outfit. Everything else is covered, from conventional rods and reels to tackle and bait.

How do I get there?

Get yourself to Darwin and we handle the rest. Plane transfers between Darwin and the Cobourg Peninsula are included in the fare.

Can we bring a bigger group?

The standard safari takes up to 6 guests on one tender. Private groups of 7 to 9 can be arranged with a second tender. Get in touch and we'll build it around your crew.
